Route 1 via Woodlands Causeway
This route has more buses plying the route from Singapore to Johor. Here are the steps on how to ride the bus on this route:
Step 1: Bus to JB CIQ from Singapore – Bus 160, CW1, 170 and 170X
if you are travelling via MRT train, choose the Yellow or North South MRT route to NS 7 or Kranji MRT Station and after you disembark, use the overhead bridge to cross the Woodland Road and take any buses (SBS 160, SBS170, SBS 170x, or CW1. In fifteen minutes (estimate), you will reach Woodland Customs Area. Here are schedule of trips for your guidance:
- if you are travelling via MRT train, choose the Yellow or North South MRT route to NS 7 or Kranji MRT Station and after you disembark, use the overhead bridge to cross the Woodland Road and take any buses (SBS 160, SBS170, SBS 170x, or CW1. In fifteen minutes (estimate), you will reach Woodland Customs Area. Here are schedule of trips for your guidance:
- Bus CW1 – First trip at is 4:00am and last trip is at 10:00pm with 15 to 30 minute interval in between trips.
- Bus 170 – First trip leaves at 5:20 am and last trip is at 12:10am with 10 to 15 minute interval in between trips.
- • Bus 170x – First trip leaves at 5:36am and last trip at is 11:30 pm with 2 to 10 minute interval in between trips.
Disembark at Woodlands Custom and tag along your luggage or any belongings. Once cleared with customs, take the same bus to continue your travel to Johor. Do not lose your tickets to avoid paying again when you board the same bus. You will need to re-alight from the bus when you reach Johor Bahru custom for another round of inspection and clearance.
Step 2: Bus from JB CIQ to Johor Premium Outlet – Bus JPO1
After JB Customs, a short walk of 200 meters will bring you to JB Sentral in the heart of JB City. JB Sentral is also where the modern railway station is located. Board bus service JPO1 from JB Sentral. Johor Premium Outlet is the eleventh stop (last stop). The bus will pass Plaza Angsana, Skudai Parade, Senai Town before arriving at Johor Premium Outlet. Excluding waiting time, the bus journey from JB Sentral to Johor Premium Outlet takes about 1 hour. With a bus service every 2 hour, it is advisable to plan the trip well to avoid long waiting time.
Bus Schedule – First trip is at 9:00 am and last trip is at 9:00 pm with 120 to 150 minute interval.
Travel Time – around three hours starting from Orchard Road in Singapore.
Cost of Travel – around $10.00 from Singapore to Johor.
Route 2 via Tuas Second Link
This route has lesser bus travelling as a route from Singapore to Johor.
Step 1: Bus to Gelang Patah CIQ Complex from Singapore – Bus CW3, CW4
If your starting point is in Singapore Central, use the Green or East-West line to take you to NS1/EW24 or Jurong East MRT Station, then go for a short walk to reach Jurong East Bus Interchange which is next to MRT station and board CW3 or CW4 bus to reach Tuas checkpoint and disembark from the bus for Singapore immigration and custom inspection and clearance. Do not forget to bring your belongings or luggage and your tickets to show the driver when you board the same bus after you are cleared and continue your trip to Johor Malaysia.
Bus Schedules are as follows:
- CW3 Bus – first trip leaves at 7:30 am and last trip at is 11:45 pm with 20 minute intervals in between trips.
- CW4 Bus – first trip is at 7:30 am and last trip is at 7:20 pm with 1 -1.5 hours interval in between trips.
Step 2: Bus to Johor Premium Outlet from Gelang Pata CIQ – Bus JPO2
You need to disembark again when your bus reaches Johor CIQ 2nd link for custom clearance and after being cleared, board JPO2 bus which will cost you not more that RM10 and the bus will take you to several top tourist spots like Hello Kitty Town and Legoland before you reach the Johor Premium outlet. According to those who have travelled all bus routes, this route is more enjoyable than the others.
Bus Schedule – JPO2 bus first trip is at 8:30 am and last trip is at 5:00pm with 3 hours interval.
Cost of Travel – not more than $10.00 for a one way trip to JPO from Singapore.
Travel time – around 3 hours starting from Orchard Road in Singapore
Travel Tips: this route is smoother but with the 3 hour intervals, you will need to time your trip well.
C). Public Taxi Going to Johor Premium Outlet from Singapore
Normal taxis on the road are not allowed to fetch passengers to Malaysia, as only certain dedicated Public Taxis are licensed to do so.
To take these taxis, you need to travel to Ban San Street Taxi Terminal (next to Queen’s Street Bus Terminal). Not all taxis in Singapore can transport passengers to Malaysia; only few are given franchise to do so. So, you need to go to Ban San Street Taxi Terminal which is next to Queen’s Street Bus Terminal. Singapore Taxis here or Malaysian Yellow Taxis are permitted to travel passengers from Ban San Street to Larkin Terminal (Johor) or any point in JB for an extra fare. Good point to remember when using taxi is that you do not need to alight from the taxi to submit to custom and immigration inspection and clearance.
Cost of travel – around SGD 90 at maximum of 4 passengers and 2-3 baggage or luggage accommodation.
Travel Time – estimated at 1.5 hours to 2 hours from Ban San Street.
