It’s a bummer that there is no direct public transportation to Desaru from Singapore but fortunately, there is another direct alternative from Johor Bahru. 1) Singapore to Desaru By Limo Taxi and Tour Van

2) Singapore to Desaru By Ferry
From Singapore, take a ferry from Changi Ferry Terminal which will take you to Tanjung Belungkor Ferry Terminal in Kota Tinggi. The schedules of the ferry are as following:

The fare for one-way ticket is S$25 (Singapore Dollar) while two-way ticket costs you S$35. To ensure the ease of your journey, purchase your ticket online beforehand at Limbongan Maju website. During peak season, it is recommended to buy the ticket 2 weeks earlier.
Upon reaching Tg. Belungkor, you can grab a taxi to Desaru. The 40 minutes drive will cost around RM40-60 per trip.
3) Singapore to Desaru By Public Bus
Having trouble travelling by sea? Opt for this alternative of travelling by bus. From Singapore, you have to travel to Johor Bahru by bus and later catch an express bus to Bandar Penawar, Desaru.
There are few buses available from Singapore to Larkin Terminal.

Once reached Larkin Terminal, take a bus to Bandar Penawar. One of the bus services available is Maraliner. The fare is approximately RM8.20 per trip per passenger.From Bandar Penawar, you can either take a local cab (teksi), or wait for a minibus that will take you directly to Desaru
Alternatively, you can take a bus service (41 or 227) from Larkin to Kota Tinggi. Then take another bus from Kota Tinggi to Bandar Penawar (max. 1hour). From Bandar Penawar, hitch a cab (teksi), or wait the minibus that will take you directly to Desaru.
If you are travelling alone, Bus and Ferry are more economical options. For family travel, the above are not advisable due to number of bus hopping. Besides it is time consuming.
